KORRES in its ongoing Skin + Sea Conscious effort, develops sunscreens avoiding non-biodegradable silicones as well as sunscreen filters with potentially negative effects on marine life.
At the same time, it strengthens this effort through cooperation with Archipelago Marine Protection Institute, whose goal is the protection of the seas and the replanting of the sea meadows of Poseidonia in the Aegean. These "marine forests" they play a big role in maintaining the health and productivity of the seas, while helping to reduce the carbon footprint. The species Posidonia oceanica is endemic, meaning it is found only in the Mediterranean and plays an important role in maintaining the health and productivity of our seas, while being a valuable ally in tackling climate change. Seagrasses and other related coastal ecosystems absorb up to 35 times more carbon than rainforests, often referred to as "blue carbon". They are considered oi "Lungs of the Mediterranean". Each square meter of a healthy meadow produces up to 20 liters of oxygen per day for the seas and the atmosphere.
On the occasion of World Oceans Day on June 8, we remember the importance of protecting the marine environment and support every effort in this direction. KORRES actively supports the
Archipelago Marine Protection Institute in this mission through the
sunscreen series KORRES Yogurt and
KORRES Red Grape.
