Vanilla, Latin name Vanilla Planifolia, is a climbing plant of the Orchid family (Orchidaceae) - the genus includes about 90 species - native to the tropics and is the only one used for industrial purposes - it contains the more essential oil.

BASIC PROPERTIES

• ANTIOXIDANT - The antioxidant property of vanilla neutralizes free radicals and protects the body from damage and infections,
• RELAXING - It also has a relaxing and calming effect on the brain and nerves, so it provides relief from anxiety, anger and worry.
• HORMONAL - Stimulates the secretion of hormones such as testosterone and estrogen which support smooth and active normal sexual behavior.
• RESPIRATORY - Soothes the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, nervous and excretory systems. Reduces inflammation resulting from fever, spasms, anxiety, stress, and hypersensitivity to allergens.
• DIGESTIVE - Vanilla also aids digestion, relieves upset stomachs, and its aroma has been found to facilitate weight loss.

INDICATIVE METHODS OF USE

• Mood/wellness - In 100ml of lavender herb oil, add 10 drops of vanilla essential oil to feel the sensual and exotic feeling it leaves.
• Relaxation - A scented bath with Vanilla essential oil can be relaxing, invigorating and even aphrodisiac. Fill the bathtub with warm water and add 8-10 drops of Vanilla essential oil.

DO NOT USE ON SKIN - MIX WITH A BASE OIL 

Caution! Essential oils are never used undiluted directly on the skin, but are added to carrier oils. A safe recommended dosage is up to 2 drops of essential oil per 10ml of base oil. For any other type of use, consult a specialist.
