product description

Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is the source of many naturally occurring compounds, such as carotenoids, flavonoids and phytosterols, which act as antioxidants.

Its root and leaves have a long history of use in traditional herbal medicine. Native Americans use Dandelion to treat kidney disease, indigestion, and heartburn. Traditional Arabic medicine recommends Dandelion to treat liver disease, and traditional Chinese medicine uses it in combination with other medicines to treat hepatitis and upper respiratory tract infections, including bronchitis and pneumonia.

Nowadays, the medicinal properties of the root and leaves are widely known and commonly accepted throughout Europe. The European Scientific Association for Phytotherapy recommends Dandelion root for indigestion and loss of appetite, and in Germany the expert group known as Committee E recommends products containing Dandelion for liver disorders, loss of appetite, indigestion, and fluid retention.

Note: Dandelion is generally considered safe, but some people report an allergic or asthmatic reaction to this herb. Those who are allergic to chamomile, chrysanthemums, sunflower, daisies, may also be allergic to Dandelion. Dandelion is not recommended for patients with gallbladder disease due to the belief that it stimulates bile secretion, although there are no human or animal studies to scientifically confirm this.
