The Liposomal Formula VITAMIN C 1000mg is a dietary supplement that contains vitamin C (as ascorbic acid and sodium ascorbate).

Liposomal shaping technology results in greater absorption and bioavailability of active substances and vitamins.

Liposomes have several benefits in terms of providing vitamins and nutritional supplements:

• protect the active substance from oxidation and degradation at acidic pH of the stomach
• increase absorption and bioavailability compared to free and other conventional pharmaceutical carriers (ie tablets, suspensions and capsules).

The liposomes

The liposomes belong to the colloidal dispersion of transport systems of bioactive molecules which have their transport capacity, improving their efficiency. The dimensions of the liposomes depending on the method of their preparation and the physicochemical characteristics of their structural units are in the order of nanometers up to the order of a few micrometers.

Historically, in the early 1960s, there was a tendency to study the biophysical properties of colloidal systems which had lipid and phospholipid composition, with the aim of understanding the biophysical functions of cells. Biophysicist AD Bangham studied lipid colloidal dispersions to simulate cell membranes and study their functionality.

Liposomes if they are made from building materials like those of our cells have advantages related to 'friendlinessin terms of human tissues. They have the ability to transport lipophilic bioactive molecules that do not dissolve easily in aqueous media and therefore have absorption and bioavailability problems, eg vitamins, curcumin, etc., but also water-soluble or amphiphilic molecules, improve the rate of dissolution and absorption through the gastrointestinal tract.

Liposomes can and do transport bioactive substances and improve their penetration through the gastrointestinal tract and are effective 'vehiclestransfer of bioactive molecules.

Η liposomal technology and especially the innovative technology of supermolecular phospholipid complexes with a lipid bilayer structure can improve the therapeutic efficacy of nutritional supplements and are an innovation in this field, giving high added value in the final dosage form.
