OREXIN plus is categorized as a food supplement with lysine, royal jelly, plant extracts and vitamins into a liquid form.
  • The product was created for people with poor appetite or loss of appetite;
  • It is suitable for children and adults.
  • Η strawberry flavor gives the product a pleasant taste, which facilitates its integration into the children's diet.
The bottle contains 150 ml and is taken once a day (dose: 10 ml per serving).

ACTIONS
  • Η lysine is an essential amino acid, which is an important component of proteins in the body. Generally, lysine is obtained through consumption of food sources such as red meat, potatoes, milk, fish, beans and some soy-based products. If your diet consists mainly of grain-based foods, this can lead to a low supply of lysine.
  • Mediterranean plants such as bitter orange and artichoke they contribute to appetite and normal digestion as well as other carefully selected essential nutrients required for normal body function.
  • Thiamine, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 they contribute to normal psychological function and normal energy-giving metabolism.
  • Vitamin B6 it also contributes to normal protein and glycogen metabolism.
  • Pantothenic acid contributes to normal mental performance and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

AMINO ACIDS
Lysine: H lysine is a must amino acid. It is not a direct appetite stimulant like some drugs (ie pizotifen), but because it helps produce digestive enzymes it acts as an appetite enhancer.
Lysine supplementation has been shown to improves appetite and growth rate in underdeveloped infants, but the exact mechanism is not clear (see the attached bibliography).
The scientific evidence is pretty good, and growing.

Royal jelly
Ο Royal jelly is a white and viscous jelly-like substance, it is a form of hypophyseal and mandibular secretion from worker bees. It is also known as “superfoods” which is consumed exclusively by the queen bee.
Royal jelly is also fed to bee larvae during hatching and helps nurture the brood.
The Royalactin it is the main component of royal jelly that allows the morphological change of a larva into the queen bee. This super food is the main reason for the queen bee's longevity compared to other bees.
Royal jelly is widely used as a dietary food supplement to combat various chronic diseases.
Moreover, it is one of the remarkable remedies for human beings in both traditional and modern medicine.
Many pharmacological activities such as
  • antibacterial,
  • antineoplastic,
  • antiallergic,
  • anti-inflammatory and
  • immunoregulatory effects etc. have also been attributed to it.

Royal jelly consists of water (50% – 60%), proteins (18%), carbohydrates (15%), lipids (3% – 6%), mineral salts (1.5%) and vitamins. Based on modern spectrometric analysis, approximately 185 organic compounds have been detected in royal jelly.
Η Royalactin is the most important protein present in royal jelly. In addition, royal jelly consists of a significant number of bioactive compounds, including 10-hydroxy-2-decanoic acid (HAD), which has some immunomodulatory properties.
Fatty acids, proteins, adenosine monophosphate (AMP), N1 oxide, adenosine, acetylcholine, polyphenols and hormones such as testosterone, progesterone, prolactin and estradiol eare other useful bioactive ingredients reported in royal jelly.
Royal jelly is one of the bee products that have potential for various treatments in humans (Pasupuleti, 2017).

HONEY
Honey is recognized worldwide for its high nutritional content that is beneficial to human well-being. It has been used traditionally by the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans and Chinese to heal wounds and intestinal ailments, including gastric ulcers.
In addition to being used externally, honey is also used internally as a functional food to provides energy and nutritious diet for strengthening vital organs in the body. This has been happening since ancient times.
The active ingredients of honey, such as glucose, fructose, flavonoids, polyphenols and organic acids, play an important role in its quality. Honey is known for its biological, physiological and pharmacological activities. Honey is also known as a supersaturated sugar solution.

  •     The natural honey consists of 82,4% carbohydrates, 38,5% fructose, 31% glucose, 12,9% from other sugars, 17,1% water, 0,5% protein, organic acids, amino acids, vitamins, phenols and myriad other secondary compounds. In addition, honey consists of small amounts of bioactive components, including phenolic acid, flavonoid and α-tocopherol.
  •     Honey components with health benefits include phenolic acids, flavonoids, ascorbic acid, proteins, carotenoids and some enzymes, such as glucose oxidase and catalase (Pasupuleti, 2017).
  •     Honey also provides certain nutrients, such as minerals, phytochemicals, and flavonoids, that aid digestive processes in the body (Pasupuleti, 2017).

Studies have shown that natural honey contains a large amount of prebiotics. The prebiotic components of honey, such as inulin, oligofructose and oligosaccharides, caused a 10-100-fold increase in the numbers of Lactobacillus acidophilus and L. plantarum, which was beneficial for the intestinal microbial flora (Pasupuleti, 2017).

CYNARA SCOLYMUS
The Globe Artichoke (Cynara cardunculus L. subsp. Scolymus (L.)) is an important component of the Mediterranean diet and is a rich source of bioactive phenolic compounds and also inulin, fiber and minerals (Lattanzioa et al., 2009).
Η artichoke it is popular for its pleasant bitter taste, which is mainly attributed to a plant chemical called cynarin found in the green parts of the plant. Cynarin is considered one of the main biologically active chemicals in artichoke. It occurs in the highest concentration in the leaves of the plant, which is why plant extracts are commonly used in herbal medicine.
Other documented “active” chemicals include flavonoids, sesquiterpene lactans, polyphenols and caffeoyl acids (EMA, 2011).

In Germany, artichoke leaf is widely used as a choleretic for its anti-inflammatory actions lipid reduction, for irritation of the liver and appetite for at least thirty years. Furthermore, in German pediatric medicine, herbs with a relatively low bitter value, such as artichoke leaves, are considered suitable for the treatment of appetite disorders (EMA, 2011).

CITRUS AURANTIUM
The Citrus aurantium used to stimulate appetite due to bitter taste and essential oils (Kreft, 2013).
Citrus aurantium (bitter orange) is a plant belonging to the Rutaceae family. The most important biologically active components of C. aurantium fruits are phenethylamine alkaloids, octopamine, synephrine, tyramine, N-methyltyramine and ordenine. It is rich in vitamin C, flavonoids and volatile oil.
The citrus fruit is native to tropical Asia but is found in all tropical and subtropical countries. It is an easily available plant that presents a wide range of uses for the treatment of various diseases.
The major active biological components in Citrus herbs are flavonoids, especially hesperidin, naringin, and alkaloids, mainly synephrine, with beneficial medicinal effects on human health. Citrus aurantium is also used in herbal medicine as an appetite stimulant (Suryawanshi, 2011).

Η N-methyltyramine (NMT) is a protoalkaloid isolated from various plant species. NMT is present in several citrus species, including bitter orange (Citrus aurantium). NMT has been shown to enhances appetite and food digestion through its stimulatory effects on gastrin and pancreatic secretions (Sidney, 2015).
