Melatonin sublingual spray, combined with organic passionflower, for natural and restful sleep. Sublingual administration offers immediate absorption and ease of use. It should ideally be taken 15-20 minutes before bedtime.

Melatonin helps reduce the time it takes to fall asleep as well as in the relief from the subjective feeling of the time delay of the biological clock (jet lag).

Melatonin
Melatonin is a hormone produced by the brain and specifically by the pineal gland and in the gut (where its production appears to be controlled by dietary factors and particularly by the availability of tryptophan, an amino acid precursor to melatonin). Its synthesis and secretion are activated by darkness and deactivated by light, thus helping our body to know when it's time to sleep and when to wake up (that's why it's important to sleep in a completely dark bedroom). Melatonin secretion increases when ambient light decreases. When we lived in a natural environment, the increase in melatonin gradually increased with dusk. But now because of artificial light, we stay in lit environments until late and fall asleep without having secreted melatonin. This hormone is not only necessary to be able to sleep, but it is important to have a good quality of sleep (which is why it is important to sleep in a completely dark bedroom). Melatonin has very strong antioxidant effects and research shows that it significantly helps prevent cancer. It is produced by the hormone serotonin, which in turn is produced by the amino acid tryptophan which is a building block of protein foods. Chronic low intake of tryptophan or poor digestion and assimilation of proteins, due to low production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach or pancreatic digestive enzymes, can lead to a low supply of tryptophan and correspondingly low production of serotonin and melatonin. Serotonin deficiency can occur in the elderly, people who work at night and sleep during the day, people who suffer from depression and those who make transatlantic trips (jet lag).
