Solgar® Lutein Lycopene Carotene Complex offers a natural source of Beta-carotene, along with Alpha-carotene and other carotenoids.

Carotenes are mainly found in fruits and vegetables, with beta-carotene found in those that are dark orange or green in color. Some are precursors to Vitamin A, while beta-carotene has antioxidant properties that help reduce free radical damage.

Free radicals are produced by the body when we breathe, digest food, exercise or even sleep. They occur naturally as they are created by emotional stress, UV light, radiation and environmental pollution. Free radicals damage the body by causing cell damage, lowering defenses against disease and putting the body in a state of 'stress'.

To moderate the effects of free radicals, balancing with antioxidants is necessary. The most important antioxidants include: Beta-carotene, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Zinc, Selenium and ingredients found in certain plants, such as Turmeric and Gingko biloba.
