Description

Description
PROPERTIES OF NIACIN
Niacin is one of two closely related compounds that carry the name vitamin B-3. The other is niacinamide. Niacin is necessary for good blood circulation, skin protection, good functioning of the nervous system and for the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. It takes part in the production of hydrochloric acid, thus contributing to the good functioning of the digestive system. In high daily doses (1.500 - 3.000mg) it is very effective in reducing bad cholesterol and triglycerides and increasing good cholesterol. Such high doses should be administered over time, starting at 100mg and increasing gradually over a period of 4 - 6 weeks.

High daily doses should be divided into several smaller ones. Niacin helps prevent or limit migraines as well as vertigo and headaches that occur before the period. Because of the great importance of niacin in the proper functioning of the nervous system, many doctors use it, alone or together with other drugs, to treat mental disorders, such as anxiety, nervousness, depression, and even schizophrenia. In a clinical study with 350 people with mild hypoglycemia, niacin (100mg) gave very good results when taken before meals. The population groups that usually suffer from niacin deficiency are the elderly, alcoholics, those with hypothyroidism, pregnant and lactating women.

The following use of niacin is derived from the literature and clinical practice to date:
  • Anxiety, depression: 100-500mg (on doctor's advice)
  • Circulatory problems: 50-500mg
  • Emotional or physical stress: 100-50 mg
  • High triglycerides and/or cholesterol: 250-500mg, and in some cases up to 3.000mg with medical advice.

  • Gluten free
  • Hypoallergenic
  • For vegeterians
  • Natural product without dyes

Common use: One tablet a day.

PRECAUTIONS - PRECAUTIONS
No side effects are known for doses up to 2.000mg of niacin per day, although high doses should be administered under medical guidance in people with a history of peptic ulcers (gastric, duodenal). Those suffering from liver disease should not take niacin.
Those who have a liver test and are taking niacin therapy at the same time should tell their doctor because the tests will most likely be affected.
Niacin may cause temporary flushing in some people due to its ability to dilate blood vessels.
Taking niacin after a meal or taking an aspirin 1 hour before niacin or an equal amount of inositol at the same time as niacin avoids or reduces redness.
On the contrary, those who seek the flushing and the most intense dilation of the vessels should bite and break the casing of the tablet in several places, before swallowing it.
Because taking niacin can interfere with blood glucose control, diabetics should take it only under medical supervision.
