B VITAMIN COMPLEX
The vitamins of the B complex are water-soluble with a synergistic and complementary action. They are better taken together and not individually, because taking a single vitamin of the B complex can be ineffective or (if in high dosage) cause the lack of another vitamin of the complex. According to this view, if an increased dosage of a particular B vitamin is required, then simultaneous intake of two preparations is recommended: individual B vitamin + complex of B vitamins.
B vitamins are essential for the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, supplying the body with energy (mainly by breaking down complex sugars into glucose). They are also necessary for the nervous system and brain, skin, eyes, mouth and hair, maintaining muscle tone, the intestinal system and strengthening (through enzymes) the immune system. In the case of treatments with certain drugs, such as antibiotics and, in particular, sulfonamides, it is recommended to take B vitamin supplements, because such treatments often cause B vitamin deficiencies. Therefore, it is recommended to take B vitamins after treatments with such drugs.
Concomitant use is not recommended, because B vitamins and, in particular, RABA, may reduce the effectiveness of these drugs. Increased needs of B vitamins are also created in cases of infections, in conditions of stress and tension, as well as during pregnancy. People who consume large amounts of refined carbohydrates (especially sweets) have a significantly increased need for B vitamins. The elderly should also take B vitamin supplements because they typically do not absorb these vitamins well from food. In some cases it was found that Alzheimer's disease was caused by a lack of B vitamins and especially B-12.
B vitamin supplements can cause the urine to be highly colored, which is not a concern at all, since it is due to the intense yellow color of riboflavin (B-2), which is largely excreted in the urine. The modern diet of processed and preserved foods, as well as intensively farmed foods, also causes serious losses of B vitamins.
