WHY ORGANIC FOOD SUPPLEMENTS
Organic foods and organic supplements
We choose organic foods for two main reasons: a) because they contain larger amounts of nutrients, b) because they do not contain toxic substances - mainly pesticides - and chemical additives.
On the face of it, Nature's Plus is the last person who would have reason to make organic food supplements, since: a) "essential" nutrients (those that must be obtained from food and the complete lack of which causes serious diseases and death) are for each of its products, not only measured and listed, but also doubly guaranteed by qualitative / quantitative analyzes of an independent laboratory, b) all its products undergo double checks for toxic substances, but also for any microbial load.
Unprocessed foods make all the difference
Today, we know that in addition to the "necessary" nutrients (proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals) there are thousands of others - known and unknown - that play a role in the proper functioning of the body. These substances are found primarily in unprocessed foods and herbs. This is why Nature's Plus herbs, in addition to the active substance, also contain the whole herb, while almost all of its other products contain natural, unprocessed foods. It should be noted that Source of Life was historically (1986) the first multivitamin product to include unprocessed foods in its formula.
The importance of synergies
A little historical reminder will show us the importance of unprocessed foods and 'non-essential' nutrients: in 1934 the Nobel laureate doctor Szent-Gyorgyi cured a patient with scurvy by giving him citrus juice rich in vitamin C. The patient's response and healing was immediate . A year later Szent-Gyorgyi administered pure vitamin C to another scurvy patient expecting an even more impressive result, since the drug was pure, without impurities and "inert" substances. He was surprised to find that the treatment was delayed! The research showed that in the juice there was an unknown substance that acted synergistically with vitamin C, increasing its activity. The substance was first called vitamin P and later bioflavonoids (group of substances).
It follows from the above that nutritional supplements have more value when they contain unprocessed foods and, of course, even more value when these foods come from organic farming.
