Fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) are a form of soluble carbohydrate found in many vegetables, such as endives and onions. When taken orally they are only partially absorbed, as most of them are used as a nutrient substrate for the growth of normal intestinal bacterial flora (mainly the genera Bifidobacteria and Lactobacillus).
This results in the prebiotic action of fructo-oligosaccharides, ie the growth of bacteria of the normal intestinal flora and the reduction of pathogenic bacteria and fungi. The prebiotic function of FOS leads to the improvement of intestinal tone, the regulation of peristaltic bowel movements and the improvement of gastrointestinal discomfort due to intestinal dysfunction.
Nutritional research has shown that the daily intake of 8g of FOS for a period of 2 weeks is accompanied by an increase in the number of bacteria of the normal intestinal flora (Prebiotic effect). This product can be used in one of 2 ways:
I) In small doses, to maintain the general health of the intestine and as a prebiotic
II) In larger doses, to maintain bowel function
Prebiotic dose:
