A dermatologist's opinion - For difficult exfoliating conditions or scalp prone to seborrheic dermatitis
Seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp is characterized by quite thick, oily dandruff and red plaques associated with severe itching. These clinical signs on the scalp may also be seen on the face and/or trunk. In this case, the most annoying symptom is the redness associated with the small plaques. Although not a serious condition, its chronic growth and high visibility can negatively affect quality of life. Therefore, tailored routine treatment and adjunctive care is required to reduce these visible symptoms as well as reduce the frequency of flare-ups as much as possible. Three elements have now been identified to explain the origin of seborrheic dermatitis: excessive sebum, which leads to the proliferation of a certain yeast/fungus (Malassezia) which in turn causes inflammation. The goal with cleaning treatments and care products is to act on these three mechanisms to improve patients' daily lives.
