THE ROLE OF VITAMIN C [Ascorbic Acid] IN THE SKIN

Vitamin C is essential to protect the skin from oxidative damage. The only vitamin molecule that the body can recognize and use is Ascorbic Acid. However, the body does not synthesize Ascorbic Acid, but it must come from the diet. The body's control mechanisms limit the amount of Vitamin C that can be taken orally for the skin. Topical antioxidant therapy becomes a very easy way to put vitamin C directly into the skin. By placing ascorbic acid in a stable, acidic, aqueous solution, the latter is not ionized and passes through the skin in a much higher concentration than is possible by oral administration.

Topical vitamin C, to be fully effective, must first reach the skin and then remain stable and in sufficient concentration to have a biological effect. Studies to date show that the key is Ascorbic Acid at a high concentration (greater than 15%) and a low pH (less than 3). Topical vitamin C in its acidic pH form can be administered and absorbed directly through the skin to provide pharmacological levels of protection. This product offers the highest concentration, 35%, of Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C). It is an anti-aging skin care serum, with a stabilized form of Vitamin C in Glycospherules and has an acidic pH [pH 2,4]. Glycospherules protect Vitamin C from its oxidation. In addition, it allows the deep penetration of Ascorbic Acid into the skin, in concentrations 20-40 times higher than those that can be absorbed from food or from tablets. Due to their resistant central cores, they are extremely stable, even under difficult physicochemical conditions, such as for example the presence of surfactants. Their shelf life is long in both suspension and standardized solid forms. The encapsulated active ingredients are therefore directed in the best possible way, so that they definitely reach the target: the skin. 
Glycospheroids have little redistribution, which does not change over time, even after five years. Likewise, they are very resistant to prolonged heating in the aqueous form at temperatures above 80 C. Thanks to its composition, VERSION C35%, penetrates the upper layer of the stratum corneum of the skin and reaches the mesodermal layer of the epidermis where new cells begin their migration to the outer surface that we expose daily to the harsh conditions of our environment.
