Biotin is an important coenzyme that, acting synergistically with the other vitamins of the B complex, is necessary for the synthesis of proteins, carbohydrates and fatty acids.
It is not considered a true vitamin, because it can be synthesized within our body by the beneficial intestinal bacteria. Therefore, its lack is not common and is limited to special groups of the population, such as those who make long-term use of antibiotics or sulfonamides (drugs that destroy good intestinal bacteria), some newborns (very few), because mother's milk is poor in biotin, also newborns with specific genetic diseases, as well as people (especially bodybuilders) who consume large amounts of raw eggs.
