The LACTOFER Iron Formula is a food supplement containing iron, lactoferrin, copper and vitamins C, B9 (folic acid) and B12.

It contributes to the normal formation of red blood cells, hemoglobin and normal hematopoiesis. It also contributes to the normal transport of iron in the body as well as to the transport of oxygen, as well as to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Through a uniquely developed coating process, the minerals are covered with a layer of vegetable fat. Thanks to this integration technology, the minerals retain their natural characteristics and offer significant advantages, making iron sulfate bioavailable, which is very active.

This eliminates the unpleasant annoyances of iron, such as the strong metallic taste, while there is improved flow, dosage control and tolerance in the stomach, due to the controlled release of the metal into the digestive system.

In healthy individuals, almost all of the iron released into plasma binds to transferrin, limiting the production of iron-catalyzed free radicals and facilitating transport to target cells.
Iron can be stored intracellularly as ferritin, a spherical heteropolymer capable of storing more than 4.000 iron atoms.

However, the role of iron is twofold, on the one hand it keeps us alive and on the other hand it can cause harmful effects. For this reason, organizations have developed complex mechanisms to ensure continuous monitoring of its levels.

The binding of free iron ions is crucial for the protection of cellular components from uncontrolled oxidation. There are several substances that play this role. Another protein, similar to transferrin is lactoferrin, which is present in LACTOFER Iron Formula, and is found in milk and some other normal fluids. It is also released by phagocytes after stimulation, possibly to counteract the diffusion of the harmful effect of reactive oxygen species on nearby healthy tissue sections. Like transferrin, it has the ability to bind two Fe atoms³⁺per protein molecule.
Lactoferrin plays a key role in a number of first-line defense mechanisms and contributes to a variety of physiological responses at both cellular and organ level. Lactoferrin plays a key role in immune homeostasis and works to reduce oxidative stress at the molecular level, thus controlling excessive inflammatory responses.
