Valerian

Valerian has been used as a medicinal plant since the time of ancient Greece and Rome. Valerian is beneficial for nervous tension, especially anxiety and insomnia, the root also strengthens the heart and can sometimes reduce high blood pressure, encourages the healing of wounds and ulcers, and is effective, topically, for muscle cramps. It can also be used as an expectorant and can relieve a tickling, nervous cough.
